 SWAHILI DAY - Saturday, 11th June, 2016

 The Embassies of KenyaTanzaniaRwandaDemocratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique will hold a Swahili Day cultural event on Saturday 11th June, 2016 in Stockholm.   

  Venue: at Folkets Hus Bagarmossen, Lillåvägen 44, 128 45 Bagarmossen.. Time: 14.00hrs to 20.00hrs 

 The purpose of the event is to celebrate and showcase Swahili culture. Activities will include brief speeches, poetry, live music and dance, display of Swahili food, fashion and literature. 

The theme for the 2016 Swahili Day is: Youth in Swahili Culture'.   Promoting interaction and exchanges between different cultures create added avenues for enriching diversity and understanding.   The Heads of Mission of these Embassies therefore extend their invitation to this occasion.

Cogratulations to Dr Jennifer Nkuene Riria from Kenya for being among thre winners of the 2016 Oslo Business for Peace Award.

DrJennifer Nkuene Riria is the Group CEO of Kenya Women Holding (KWH).Operating on a national basis, KWH works to enhance capacity for women and their families in Kenya through education, empowerment- and peace building projects. On a more political level, KWH has an aim to influence the formal financial sector to appreciate the power of poor women in growing the Kenyan economy. Dr Riria has also led Kenya Women Micro finance Bank (KWFT) for over two decades. KWFT grants loans to marginalized women and their families, serving over 1.5 million women and disbursing over US$ 2.3 billion over a period of 20 years. She has served in a number of leadership roles and received local and international recognition for her work, advocating sustainable peace and development in Kenya and

The Embassies of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo are going to hold a Swahili Day cultural event on Saturday 15th June, 2013 in Stockholm.

Venue: Bergshamra Skola, Hjortstigen 1, Bergshamra Solna.

Time: From 14.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs

The purpose of the day is to bring together various events with the aim of celebrating and informing people about the richness of the Swahili culture. Activities will include brief speeches, poetry, music and dance, display of Swahili foodstuff, fashion and literature.

We believe that promoting interaction and exchanges between different cultures creates an added avenue for enriching cultural diversity and understanding.

It is against this background that the Heads of Missions of these Embassies extend their invitation to this occasion.
